This is a fascinating read for anyone in the software development space. The lessons and take-aways I have from this book will stay with me throughout my career. If you are serious about software development and do not have the luxury of staying in greedfield projects your entire career, you need to pick up this book.
This was an interesting easy read that I'd recommend to only the people starting off this journey of understanding wealth. Most of the concepts were basic and could be learned elsewhere. However, I would be lying if I said I didn't pick up a few good tidbits from this book. I really loved the explanation of values versus goals and really need to sit with that lesson a bit more.
I recently had a road trip ahead of me and thought it would be a good time to learn more about minimalism. Wish I looked elsewhere, I was trapped in the car for two long with this book. It started off good and there were a few take-aways that I got from this, but overall I felt the book to be very pushy and not within the mindset of other minimalism resources I have looked into.
I would highly recommend skipping this and looking elsewhere for your introduction into minimalism!
This was a delightful followup to The Three-Body Problem entering yet another depth I was not ready for in a science fiction book. There were parts of this book, however, that I felt were a little forced to get a point across or move the narrative along... there were also some mysteries left up in the air that I felt should have been answered. Definitely give this a read if you liked the first book in this trilogy!
I really enjoyed this book. Even as a non-manager tracked employee there were plenty of take-aways on how to be a better employee and plenty of take-aways on how to make your work environment the best it can be. It's great to have a book written in such a way where you can jump around or skip sections that are not pertinent to your situation; or go back and read sections that resonated with you again.
This was a very interesting read. The whole idea on how one goes about making decisions is something I haven't really thought about, but after reading this book I need to rethink how I decide. Throughout the book Annie give some very thought provoking examples to help you along your journey. I'd definitely recommend this book, but I do struggle with seeing how I will go about my daily life adopting what I have learned here due to how drastic of a change I'll need to make.
I am disappointed with this book on the premise of its title; explaining how to achieve gender diversity. I agree with other reviews that this book felt rushed and poorly edited. I agree that this book would have benefited from a diversity of editors/reviewers before publishing.
I am glad of the topics this book raised that led to some very interesting conversations with people around me, but I wish the conversations were driven by the text of this book. They just couldn't have been.
Pretty interesting ideas shared in this book. definitely took away some ideas on how to better take notes in my career, but I feel the book focused too much on taking notes for academic publishing. I'd give it a read though, it opens your mind to building an external brain mapping which might help everyone.
