I liked this one a lot better than City of Fallen Angels. There was a lot of character development on Sebastian's part which I quite enjoyed. I'm not really dying to find out how it all ends though, I still feel like the extension to the original trilogy is unnecessary, but I'll still be reading the next one to see how it all ends.
I feel like this last book wasn't really necessary, James could have definitely ended the series at two books. However, this book did provide insight into Christian's past, I just could have done without the incessant smut–it just made the story drag on and on. The writing was the same as the first two books, becoming almost annoying repetitive at times.
I don't know what to think of this trilogy, part of me likes it and the other part of me is wondering why I ever decided to read it...
I wish the ending didn't leave so many unanswered questions. And why did they have to die? I mean, I understood that they had to, but I obviously wish they didn't. Regardless, the book was still pretty good; I wasn't expecting too much from it anyway, I've learned to not have high expectations as a series goes on. It was definitely worth the read though.
This book was a short and quick read. I'm actually surprisingly how fast I flew through it. The book didn't turn out the way I expected, but still managed to be fairly predictable. There was just something about the writing style that bothered me though. All in all, it was an okay book—not terrible, but not amazing either.
not as fun as the first one, but still enjoyable! there were some great one liners that had me cackling. i liked learning more about the world and the new characters introduced. i need to stop myself from marathoning the series because i don't want the fun to end!
i hate this already and i can tell it's not going to get any better, so i will just pretend it's a duology to preserve the magic of the first two books. el is going to mope through the whole thing and i don't want to read that. the book always feels like it's going to be drastically different since they're out of the school and the school was my favorite part so i'm stopping!
Wasn't a big fan of the characters, but the world is interesting enough that I'll give the second book a try!
well that was rough. the first 75% was excruciatingly boring, but the last bit made me smile. the whole book was just missing that tessa dare charm. i am sad.
DNFing at 53%. i'm tired of trying to get through this book. the plot sounds great on paper but i can't stand the execution. the writing style makes me completely unable to connect with the characters (really can't stand present tense) and the endless pop culture references make the book seem like it's trying to hard to be cool and i feel like it's going to become so dated jn a few years. there are so many long descriptive sections and i'm still being told everything instead of shown.
i'm halfway through and i'm only barely invested in the relationship... not a good sign. probably should have stayed away from this when i realized it was gonna be politics focused but i was hoping so badly for a cute romance. this wasn't it for me and that makes me sad.
the writing was extremely poor and difficult to follow. the beginning sex scene was super cringe and not hot at all?? gotta give points for the clear condom use though! there's lots of telling and not showing, so i don't believe the fmc is the big badass we're told she is
i just felt so bad for the heroine and the first third made me sad, i didn't feel like it was worth sticking it out to get to the actual relationship :/
I really think I need to take a break from YA fantasy... everything is so boring and predictable. Lia's character makes me want to rip my hair out. The love triangle is also draining me since I'm not a fan of either of the choices.
