What fantasy romance books have left you spellbound?Answer
Some readers differentiate between “fantasy romance” in which the fantastical elements of the storyline are more prominent, and “romantic fantasy” in which the romantic elements of the storyline are more prominent. Either way, readers who enjoy the meeting of these genres are transported to and immersed in fantastical, magical worlds in which anything is possible, especially epic romances with happy endings. With villains and heroes straight out of a dream and supernatural phenomena like time travel, you never know what could happen next. Why this book?
Outlander's fantastical elements are the catalyst for the core relationship in the book. The rest of the novel and series is gritty historical fiction that pulls no punches when portraying the hardships and political upheaval of 18th century Scotland. The characters are imperfect people like all of us and have to work through their own traumas before they can help themselves and the people around them. The time-travel drew me in, but the characters made me a diehard stan of both the book and TV series.
