Why this book?
I devoured The Hunger Games series so fast that when it came to watch the movies I was all in without question. Jennifer Lawrence was an incredible Katniss; all her mannerisms and expressions are intentional and full-on Katniss. Amandla Stenberg's Rue immediately captured my heart and her last scene with Katniss made me openly sob in the theater. Donald Sutherland as President Coriolanus was also * chef's kiss *—what a scary amazing presence on screen. This movie adaptation definitely enhanced the book, no question.

Why this book?
The 1995 BBC mini-series has an unfair advantage over film adaptations. Mainly, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy's relationship is given space to breathe and evolve. Also, you never forget your first Mr. Darcy and mine was Colin Firth.

Why this book?
Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, and Alan Rickman are pure joys in the 1995 movie adaption of Sense and Sensibility. Thompson took liberties with her adapted screenplay but still paid homage to the original story's heart and soul. Plus, the DVD commentary with Thompson and producer Lindsay Doran is hilarious and gives so much insight into artistic liberties taken with Austen's work.
