I just need to sit and cry really bad right now just let me please just leave me be just let me wallow in my puddle of tears

I can't lie, I am so gullible, towards the end I was being gaslit like hell

I don't usually rate memoirs but I have to say, the non-linear writing style just did not work for me. It's not very cohesive & I was quite confused about what point in time events were happening. It felt like there were a couple random stories that didn't really fit & were just kinda thrown in there? The organization just isn't good.

It was hard for me to connect to the material majority of the time & I wish elliot could've really delve into some of the things he talked about more descriptively and truly unpacked all of it. I really wish Elliot spoke more about his transness in this, those moments are the ones I felt most connected to & I teared up every single fucking time.

I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this actually

Part of Your World gave such a fast paced narrative that kept me engaged the entire time, but ultimately it fell short for me. It seemed like Alexis knew more about Daniel & his life than he did about her & her life and I didn't enjoy that.

I really enjoyed the humor injected into the story through the characters, I did find myself grinning and laughing a lot. The first 30% of the book made this seem like a 4 star read but throughout the story everything just kinda got lost.

Not to be a hater, but if you ask me Daniel deserves better! In my opinion Alexis failed to evoke empathy or interest in her struggles for me personally which left me indifferent to her problems. Daniel definitely emerged as a more compelling character for me! Though I will say more towards the end Alexis was a bit relatable.

I think this is such a cute romance and I enjoyed a lot of different components of this story but it's also made me realize opposites attract in terms of wealth and socioeconomic status just isn't my cup of tea! I really like Abby Jimenez's writing and if I read a book by her with tropes I actually like I could potentially find a 5 star read within her books!
