Gideon the Ninth is absolute gold. I saw there was a lot of hype for the debut series, looked into it, and thought the necromancer theme might not be for me, plus I wasn't sure where it fit in the fantasy category. But when I did get a chance to read a slice of it, I was hooked.
Set into the future, where death declares decree across 9 particular communities, whom praise skeletons and dead dudes. Half sci-fi, half grimdark, and another addition half, a Agatha Christie murder mystery, Tamsyn somehow manifests a story-driven plot in an unlikely perfect blend.
Immediately shelved as a pippity poppity.
