reread: 4,5⭐️still love the characters and the universe but I could not give this book 5 stars for this second read, it's personnal preferences more than anything. I really hope I enjoy the sequel as much or even more than this first one!

DNF at 30%, not interested in putting more of my time on this book.
This is not aweful, but I don't need or want to know what happens next, the characters and the story are not holding my attention so I decided to DNF it.

DNF at 30%. Felt like a mashup of many of the popular YA books of the last decade or so. Some elements seemed to be directly taken(with no subtlety whatsoever) from books like The Hunger Games, The Selection, Red Queen and Divergent.
There seemed to be no real reason for most of what was happening or had happened, the universe didn't seem well thought out and I did not care for any of the characters. Some of the scenes felt like they were almost copied and pasted from other books.
This story and these characters felt unoriginal and like it had no heart and no soul.
I was excited for this story but after 30% it gave me nothing much and I decided to DNF it to respect my own time.

Such a touching, beautiful and heartfelt story, I loved every minute of reading it! I will be reading the other books in this series for sure! This is such an easy 5 stars to give!❤

Interesting, but not world-chattering. I liked some parts and was indifferent for another big part of the book. But this did very well what it intended to do: rewrite The Hunger Games from Peeta's POV. The part I was indifferent about was mostly what i already read and know from the original version, but I know this was necessary to the writing of this version. Otherwise I liked some of the creative choices the author made but some others really did not make sense for me in this.
Overall, this was an ok read that I could see myself recommend to hardcore fans who crave this kind of content, but not so much to the casual fan of the orginal series.
I have yet to decide if I am gonna continue on with the second tome in this.

L'univers et le début de l'histoire avait une vibe de Once Upon a Broken Heart.
J'ai déjà hâte de lire le deuxième tome!

J'ai eu de la difficulté à embarqué au début, je trouvais les personnages et les événements moyennement intéressants jusqu'à presque la moitié du livre. Cette deuxième partie, selon moi, représente tellement l'été à l'état pur, j'avais l'impression de prendre du soleil un beau jour d'été en lisant ces chapitres. Après réflexion, malgré ces derniers chapitres plus intéressants, je ne peux pas mettre plus de 3 étoiles à cette lecture, car seulement 15% du livre était plus interéssant.

Par contre, j'ai remarqué un très grand écart entre la personne qu'était Rose entre le debut et la fin du livre, ne serait-ce que pour le vocabulaire utilisé par celle-ci ou ses actions. Elle semblait avoir vieillit de plusieurs années en quelques semaines. Je n'achète cette évolution miraculeuse.

I loved it! I'm also realising that I really love a treasure hunting type of story with side quests and everything. Also the fantasy/supernatural aspect of the story was interesting and the main couple made me think of Phoebe and Cole. I was also very interested in the escape room side of the story!
