What a story and what a ride! So many twists and turns, secrets and deceptions, I felt mesmerized by this book and it's stories! I loved how the ambiance of Caraval envelopped every aspect of the book and how the author had me guessing what was gonna happen every step of the way. I'm pretty sure it won't be long before I pick up the sequel. It felt like I was dreaming while reading this. The author masterfully entertwined reality with fantasy and I loved it!
Didn't expect to laugh that much reading this kind of book.
But, I really didn't like how he hurt her at the end by making her feel like he ended it, just to then surprise her and tell her 3 weeks would be too much time between the times they saw each other. Not cool, you made your girl cry for no reason...
I loved the part on the boat at the beginning, it really felt like a pirate story. After that I didn't felt that much invested in the story and the characters (especially Mal, so whiny...) but it was interesting enough and I really liked Nikolai and his story, I will for sure read the duology about him.
Ps: The Darkling creeps me out, I don't understand the fan's fascination with him as a romantic interest.
I loved the characters and the story. Would I reread it? Probably not, but I had so much fun reading it! Video gaming isn't part of my life, but I sure enjoy peaking into that world! Big topics were discussed but the balance between the serious stuff and the rest of the story was just perfect. It made me think while still keeping me entertained and interested in the story. Would 100% recommend!
A fun and easy read that makes time flies by. I loved the setting and because of my curious nature I wanted to know everything about the program. I loved the drama and some part of the romance were swoon-worthy.
So why is there one star missing then? I asked myself if I would re-read this book and the answer was a clear “No”. But I will for sure read the other books in the series when they are published!
Also, if there is still a Netflix series in the works being adapted from this book, I'll be the first in row to watch it!
I loved, the characters the setting and the themes of the book. This POV was very interesting to read and I really like how the racism and feminism were addressed. As an historical fiction it was pretty slow paced, but the author was able to keep me hooked by giving me some questions to be answered and by creating a great and solid ensemble of characters that I liked very much and a principal character that is really inspiring! Would recommend if you like historical fiction and have an interest for the subject of gender and race equality in the late 1800. I would also love to see were these characters are a few years later in a sequel or companion novel...
Une relecture pleine de surprise, tellement de choses se passent dans ce premier tome, j'ai adoré replonger dans cette histoire. Un favori de mon adolescence qui en reste un! L'histoire est tellement bien constuite et l'intrigue garde le lecteur en haleine, je commence le 2e tome aussitôt que je le peux et j'espère apprécier la suite autant que dans mes souvenirs!
Great story and I loved Georgie's character, but Travis was blend and he did not bring much to the story character wise. And there were a little too much emphasis on the sex scenes compared to the other parts of the story, I felt a little like I was reading an erotic novel.
This was a lighthearted book and I enjoyed it, I will probably read the next book in the series because I care about Rosie and Bethany's stories, the All for us club is a great thing to focus on in the series.
Wow, this book was so full of epicness! I loved it, this would make an incredible movie, that would cost a fortune to produce because of all the special effects they'd need to use to recreate everything! The characters were great and except for the damsel in distress part of the story, I loved every word of it! I recommand to anyone who's looking ti be entertained, cause this is really entertaining!
I will make sure to look up this author's other work!
A good book, but what gives it a good nodge is it's relevance and it's hard subject and the relation the author has with the subject. Colleen Hoover always finds a way to show a darker side to the human being while also writing a beautiful but also sad love story.
This is not a feel good book, none of Colleen Hoover's book's are. This is a book with happy and sad moments just like real life and it shows just how rough life can get and just how hard some decisions can be to make.
I give it 3 stars, because I'm not sure I would reread it, but I'm really glad I did read it at least one time, it gave me a perspective that's hard to get on the subject matter.
So many things happened in this book! Enough so that it was difficult for me to keep track of what was happening. I was surprised a bunch of times by the story and the character but over all I felt the story was a little bit all over the place. There were some interesting elements in there but I didn't connect with the characters and the story.
I'm not sure how I feel about this one, there is a lot of questions that came out from this read.
I was expecting a story of She's the Man's type, and I got one. But I didn't expect a sci-fy backdrop for this to unfold. Some of the writing was cheesy and predictable, but I mostly enjoyed my read.
The ending was weird and cringe worthy and I didn't always understand the reasonings and motivations to act a certain way of some of the characters.
The parts that included Simon and Bram were the best part of this book in my opinion. I felt like Leah's character was forced and trying too hard to be sacastically cool. I guess this kind of character would have be ok for me a while back, but now I just see right through it... I'm sad to say that I just didn't care for Leah and her story.
Appart from the scenes with Bram and Simon, my favorite scenes were the shopping scenes. They illustrate very well how it is for a plus-size girl to shop for clothing, even more for formal-wear.
It was an ok read, but had I read this book when it came out I would have been really dissapointed because it's nowhere near as good as Simon vs. the homo sapien's agenda. But, because I waited to read it, I heard a lot of comments about this book and I had a good idea on how I would like it.
Great book! I was rapidly hooked to the characters and the story.There was always something happening to keep me interested. I loved the world building, the fights, the missions and the character developpement of everyone. I'm in for the second book in the series, I'm certain it will be great too! This was my first read from Melissa Landers and it did not dissapoint!
I loved this book! Not only did the main character had the best name in the world (wink, wink) but the story had everything I love: adventure, piracy, danger, love, a strong female character, battle scenes, a phase of learning and practicing and a lot of good stuff in between too! This second book in the companion serie answered so many questions and let so many questions to be answered in the third book, I can't wait to know the whole story and point of views of this! This kind of writing is genius and it leaves you wanting more. I'm so glad I've picked this serie up, thank you Richelle Mead for yet another delicious serie for me to read and enjoy! :)
What en epic book! I was'nt expecting this kind of adventure! Yes, this is partly a book about court and noble society, but the other part of the story takes place in a boat and a kind of western, gold mining country. I thought I was getting a Selection type of book and at the end I got a gold rush story! This was great and I can't wait to read the other books in the serie, I'm so excited to know what the girls were up to while all this happened. Their character development was so interesting!
This was a great book! It makes you see a side of life that not much people experience in life, it makes you realize how lucky you are to have everything you have. Everybody should want to be a “Mia” when they grow up: accepting, generous, percevering, outspoken, ressourceful, kind and full of home and ideas! I highly recommend anyone to read this beautiful and painfuly real book.
This was a great read and I had a lot of fun reading it! For this I alternated between the audiobook and the physical copy and both were great, but I think the audiobook better helps the reader understand the whole story because of all the exchange of messages between multiple characters. I am now excited to watch the movie that's coming out later this year! I hope it will be as fun and entertaining as the book!
