This book is really weird. It can be described as a sci-fi fairy tale. A brilliant example of Soviet satire. It is extremely funny and witty. Highly recommended to every sci-fi or fantasy fan.

This book definitely deserved to win Hugo, Nebula and Locus awards! A proper sci-fi classic.
A really cool premise with fantastic execution.

Some interesting ideas but bogged down with boring and somewhat annoying parts. Often it felt try too hard with all the Victorian language and literary references. Should've been much shorter.
