I've been looking forward to reading this one and it's not what I expected.
It's a compulsive page-turner again but the twist confused me until I figured out what was going on.

Barbara O'Neal has been my favourite author for many years, with her early Barbara Samuel books on my keeper shelf, so it was utterly lovely to read this book and be transported back to her days of lush, poignant, evocative storytelling.
As the story unfolds, we learn many dark secrets of the Bianci family and discover what drove sisters Kit and Mari to be the people they are today.

The book is set in a residential care facility and highlights several amazing relationships, particularly that of Anna and Luke, two young residents with memory issues.
The poignant way in which several trigger subjects like Alzheimer's, consent and suicide are handled is just beautiful.

I recently read Alison Stuart's historical mystery set in Singapore (Singapore Sapphire) and thoroughly enjoyed it, but this book held me captivated.
I loved the strong heroine, Adelaide, and the trials she went through.
And sexy American Caleb Hunt is her match in every way.
With an interesting cast of secondary characters, a vivid setting and historical data that fascinated, I found this to be a lovely page-turning read.
I don't usually read historicals but I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Loved the Singapore setting of the time and the accurate details.
Harriet Gordon is such a strong character, I'm looking forward to further adventures with her, Inspector Robert Curran and an interesting array of secondary characters.
I also liked how the mystery unfolded.
The entire book had a hint of Agatha Christie about it, and I devoured her books when I was younger.
