“Aelin looked at Chaol and Dorian and sobbed. Opened her arms to them, and wept as they held each other. “I love you both,” she whispered. “And no matter what may happen, no matter how far we may be, that will never change.”
Even though i did not love the series, i still enjoyed it and i have so many characters i adore. it's a great story and it's amazing how far it developed throughout the years. However, the final did drag more than it should've. Some parts were still impressive, i loved how everything was tied seamlessly and how all the characters teamed up, it was nice to see all those interactions. one of my favorite parts is when the original trio (Aelin, Chaol and Dorian) came together, I thought we should've gotten more of them since the story started with them. Their final farewell was so bittersweet and probably my favorite scene in the entire series. But a huge portion felt very boring and repetitive. I reached a point when all i looked for is to finish. The author created memorable characters especially the side characters but after collecting my thoughts and seeing this in retrospect, the series was simply not for me.
4.5 - This book blew me away. Bitterblue still remain my favorite book in the series but this one is probably the strongest.
There were a lot of things i enjoyed. I do like how the author expanded the world. The book feels very different from the previous books, which makes me wonder if it's setting up for a new trilogy. As usual, i loved the politics, but he themes of environments and the new vast technology that would probably affect the seven nations in the next years, added more strength to the world.
My favorite parts are anything with Giddon and Hava, their journey, banter and friendship were the most thing i looked forward to. I was thrilled that Giddon got his own point of view, i didn't think the author could make me love him more after the third book, but i guess i've been proved wrong. I'm also so happy that Giddon and Bitterblue ended up together. It's one of the healthiest relationships i've read about, and i hope to see more of their dynamic in future books.
I'm very excited that the next book is focusing on Hava; she's one of my absolute favorites in this series and i'm dying to see more of her interactions with Bitterblue or Giddon.
I can say for sure that this series made its way among my top favorites, because i can't help but need more of this world and its characters.
“Mercy was more frightening than murder, because it was harder.”
A solid good read. I thought it was unique and even though not much happens regarding the plot, i still enjoyed every part. The characters are likeable too, especially Po. The romance takes a back seat but it's so good and endearing. I also liked the seven kingdoms conflicts and the graces concept.
The finale of this quartet have kept me spellbound for 500 pages. It was dazzlingly entertaining, and like the previous installments, it was as action-packed as heart-wrenching.
The characters are beautifully layered and complex. Elias, Helene, Laia, Avitas and Musa captured my heart. And I can't recall an antagonist i've sympathized with as much as i did with The Nightbringer. The author has an ability to execute powerful and emotional scenes and this book had myriad of them.
It's not quite often to love every single book in a series but this one is an exception. The world is carefully and meticulously built. The plot is very Incredible with brilliant and rich narratives.
Definitely an all-time favorite. I will have trouble finding an amazing series as this one.
This series continues to deliver stunning and heartbreaking plot. The writing is rich and brilliant. I'm very intrigued about how the revelations in this book will play out in the finale. I also thought the addition of the nightbringer chapter was pretty cool.
There were parts that i felt weren't as gripping as the previous installments (especially regarding Elias). But everything i enjoyed in the story is still there and Helene's chapters are more than enough for me to get invested into the book. She's one of my all time favorite characters at this point.
I'm not sure if i'm emotionally ready for the final book. This series easily became one of my favorites. It's been a while since i've felt so much for a story and characters.
This book is so brutal! Definitely darker than its predecessor. I have so many thoughts that i will have trouble to convey because so much happens in this story. It was super immersive and the characters go through a lot of development. But among all the complex characters; Helene was the most remarkable to me, her loyalty and the difficult choices she has to make put her into a new kind of hell. I'm definitely rooting for her in the next books and i'm excited to see where things are going and how the story will be expanded.
Impossible to put down. Fast paced and exciting, the stakes are always high so there was never a dull moment with this story. It was as action-packed as heart-wrenching. The writing was top tier and i was astonished by the brilliant storytelling and how each chapter was tailored to grip my attention.
As far as the characters go, they were all intriguing and multilayered. I enjoyed Elias' chapters more than Laia's, the internal conflicts he faces throughout the book interested more than the rebellious themes Laia's story conveyed, and besides, Helene alone is worth 5 stars.
This was compulsively readable.
I've been reading a lot of YA fantasy lately and they somehow blurred together at some point. But this book takes a refreshing, unique approach. It's not everyday we get morally grey characters and a dashing time travel adventure, so this was utterly delightful.
I liked the structure of the story, the monster families and their powers, the secrets that are yet to unravel, i simply can't wait where things will go from here.
I found myself invested in the characters. Joan is a very likeable heroine, she's mentally strong and proactive with so much room to grow. Also we don't have many biracial protagonists so this was a treat. Ruth was such a fun character and her support for Joan was heartwarming. My most favorite character is Aaron. I was enjoying the chemistry between him and Joan a lot throughout the book. I simply need more of him in the next book.
There's something about the writing that can swoop you in. Many parts were thrilling and fast-paced, it was hard to put the book down without knowing what will happen next. It's amazing that this is the author's debut novel. I enjoyed it thoroughly and i'm very excited for the sequel.
