Just bored as all hell. I read book 1 of the series in a day. But this stinker has been sitting on my Kobo bumming me out for three months. Gotta formally DNF it so I don’t feel repelled by my Kobo. I’m a history nerd and a witch, so it’s an absurd sort of miracle that a book about a witch in Elizabethan England could be this repellent.
Beautiful prose. Lovely characterization of a personality that I met in early bedtime stories but never really connected with til this book.
I think I may have given this 5 stars if I didn't have to live through the deaths of several wolves that had already been fairly well detailed as unique individuals for.
There is grim sadness and loss in here. As there should be in a book that is about how far humanity has removed itself from the natural world around us and the destruction that follows that disconnect.
