Honestly my favourite book ever. Nothing I've read has come remotely close to describing how I feel in my day to day life and in attempting to connect to others, and I don't think anything else ever will.

The language Dazai uses as well as his characterisation of Yozo help to create an atmosphere and feeling of just relentless contempt with the world around Yozo, and the way every event in his life has felt out of his hands.

Just a beautiful read.
