What to say about this first book. I was engaged from the very beginning. Robin Hobb is a very talented writer. I loved the world she built in book one and look forward to more as I I continue the series.

Fittz is a great character as the use of first person narrative works so well with this book. There were times when I had to ask questions as things happened outside of the narrative. But here is the thing, that is the point, this is Fitz story and if he wants to gloss over certain aspects of the story it is done on purpose.

Seriously cannot wait for the next book. I do need to wait as I need this fester a little longer

Simply a fantastic book.

I would have rated this higher if the character of Joanna wasn't so grating. Every chapter she appeared in just felt like a chore.

Very interesting perspective. I liked the context of this book it was perfect for reflection during the Lenten season. Granted you may not be a Christian and this book may not be for you. But if you want a view into what the season of Lent means this is a great read

Enjoyed this one more than the first. Nice relaxing read

I enjoyed the journey. I thought I figured how the book would end. But I was incorrect. I was not expecting the pull of the heartstrings at the end

This was a very satisfying read. It had funny moments, serious moments, and sad moments. A truly enjoyable journey.
