Interesting idea, but the ‘recursion' became increasingly tedious

The first third of the book was ok. It then turned into a ramble, in excruciating detail, of game world creation, which then segued into a morality tale of good vs evil. The book just ended with a feeble unsatisfactory whimper. Disappointing.

Corny as hell, but still good fun. After all it's a self confessed Space Opera

A pretty good story which I enjoyed. Could do with some more editing in terms of grammar and spelling errors. I noticed that the author's bio says he is dyslexic, so it's not his fault - editor needs to give it another once over.

It was OK. A couple of things.
A great deal of violence which would be expected, but unnecessarily descriptive in my view.
The interactions between the various police officers, and departments, came across as inaccurate and confused - not that I'm an expert - but seemed phoney.

Whilst being well written, I found it to be sadly depressing.

There is tosh, and then there is unmitigated tosh; this book is the latter. I can only think that this is a book targeted at a young audience. If that is the case, as this book is so badly written, then I feel sorry for them.

It's strange how you can react to certain books. Whilst this was a well written book, with an interesting concept, I found that it depressed me.
I don't know why.

Tosh!

Brilliant! Now I have to wait another year for book 2.

Damn! That was a great book. Roll on part 2.

Shallow characters and the plot only really starts going somewhere as the book ends. “Find out what happens in the next book”. I won't be reading it.

Hum Ho. 2.5 A bit disappointing, in fact it became a little tedious towards the end. Not up to his early stories.

An exceptionally well written book. A story of love, life, intrigue and war, and how seemingly random choices impact life. Probably the best book I've read this year.

Well, that was a good book!

Certainly offbeat with some complex and unusual world building. The Chandleresque dialog is a little corny, but hey, I enjoyed it!

I really wanted to like this book a lot. Started well, ended interestingly, but the middle of the book was basically boring. Pages of introspection and mental self flaggelation by all of the main characters. Hard work. I have book two lined up, but I need a bit of a rest first.

An excellent end to the trilogy.

Good, but not as good as the first one.

Just excellent.

Had to give reading up this book. Sounded promising but it was the puerile humour that killed it for me.

The Age of Scorpio is a lengthy, but compelling trilogy. The storyline is spread across three narratives, set in the Ancient Past, Now, and the distant future. Eventually it becomes clear that all three stories are linked, and they come together in this, the final installment.
Well worth a read.

A grudging 3/5. A bit of the same old stuff with the hero's angst and psychological trauma; this is getting a bit tired now.
