Short Synopsis: Enjoyable read with quippy characters whose lives are drawn to winning trivia TV shows.
This is the 2nd Jen Comfort book I've read, the 1st being Midnight Duet.
While MD revolves around music, production, and vocalists, What is Love? focuses on trivia, game show mechanics, and the personalities found in relation to that facet of the television industry.
In reading J.C's books it is very apparent that she lovingly invests time and research into her work, adding depth, immersion, and realism to her books.
I, as a reader, have learned something from both books in terms of the immediate subject matter and specifically in WiL?'s case, how ADHD can present in women and affect them.
MFC Maxine and MMC Teddy are presented realistically through their opposing personalities, faults, and struggles while both maturing over the course of the book. Not to mention being surrounded by a fun cast of personas.
I absolutely love the banter and sarcasm in some of the conversations. I can't remember the last time a book elicited many snort-giggles and "OMG WHAT?!" from me -- I had a blast reading through the comical dialogue.
THERE IS ALSO A CAT.
And Mortal Kombat.
As newer Romance fiction reader I found this a warm, cozy, enjoyable read that I wish was longer. The pacing (to me) is a bit off. Some areas are glazed over but the topical ones are very well detailed.
Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed the 2 J.C books I've read so far. The amount of work she does for these are fantastic and I am absolutely reading future publications from her.
She honestly could write them 2x longer or part of a duology and would I fully support.
I will never think of skydiving the same way again.
Or geography.
