See allculpability is a surprising gem of a novel. very on-the-nose for our ever-reliant culture on artificial intelligence, holsinger writes an account of one family's altered lives at the hand of ai. after an unfortunate car accident while their teenage son was behind the wheel of their autonomous van, a family must grapple with fault and responsibility in a murky legal area surrounding artificial intelligence. this novel was gripping and easy to read, and i thoroughly enjoyed every page.
the thursday murder club started off quite slow. so slow, in fact, i nearly gave up on it. the constant twists and turns and vast array of characters nearly proved too much for me, but i am glad i kept slogging on. the cozy, charming atmosphere of coopers chase retirement home and our four witty, charming thursday murder club attendees was just the type of engaging story i was looking for to work through a bit of a reading slump.
as the four work together on a cold case, new murders begin to appear. there are many a false start and red herring, but the truth (or, rather, parts of the truth) gets worked out by the end of the story. overall, a fun read of retired folks having a spot of fun playing detective (while working with proper detectives) in their own community. looking back, the reveal at the end should have seemed quite obvious, but i had a fun time sleuthing alongside these characters and will definitely pick up the rest of this series.
