Very interesting story, but way overly long. Could have been cut a good 50%.

Picked it up because of the TV show and I'm glad I did. It was a great read I devoured quickly. (Well, quick for me.)

Every book in this series continues to be absolutely incredible.

I read this book for the first time at least thirty years ago and I remember it being a really good book. I was in no way prepared for how incredibly good this book still is. Out of all the books I've recently reread, I'm so happy I chose this one.

So... I knew this going into another Stirling book. He takes an incredibly cool idea... and just... grinds it into dust with so much detail and repetition. There's only so many times I can read a character's thought process about a technological innovation that's going to do so and so and I get it, I get the idea, seriously, but my god man, learn to edit this down. I loved the Emberverse series until like book 200 or so and I *dearly* hope this series doesn't make the same mistake. I'll read book three of course, but after I'll probably just find a summary.
