First, I have to say that I have LOVED the Dirty and Players series overall. Unfortunately, this one wasn't my favorite. I have enjoyed Summer in the other books and I liked Ronan okay even though I was expecting Flynn. Given the overall plot of Summer being in danger, I guess I was expecting more intrigue. It started strong and I was invested but as the story progressed I started losing interest. Maybe it was a pacing issue for me. By the end, I was skimming scenes to get to the HEA. I am still excited for Taylor and Cary's story next but I'll probably go read something completely different in between before I start it.
4 Stars!
It took a little time for me to get into this one but I ended up really liking it! It's a bit of a slow burn and Xander and Courteney's relationship is hot but volatile. It was fun getting to know Courteney and her friends. I liked getting to see why Xander was so distracted in Hot Mess. He definitely grew on me. Looking forward to DJ Summer and Flynn's story!
Okay, so I loved this!
I wasn't quite sure what to expect with Gabe and Teva but I loved the teaser in the previous book with Teva following Gabe everywhere. I just really hoped Teva wouldn't overwhelm him. I also had misgivings about a (mostly) human hero after enjoying these dragons so much. The good news is that Gabe becomes more dominant and a dominating Gabe is HOT. It takes a little while to get to their needs worked out but the journey to their HEA is so rewarding!
Enjoyed it!
This was a slower burn than I was expecting but I still enjoyed it! I was slightly annoyed with the side drama of Gwen's sister. I know there needs to be some kind of tension for Gwen and it was effective. I just found myself wanting to push Daniella out a window. I know, I know, she's been through a lot. Anyway, Vaan and Gwen end up being pretty sweet and steamy together. I'm not sure what's about to happen with Azar or the potential other Big Bad. Excited to see what happens next!
Loved Amy & Rast!
I was eagerly anticipating Amy finding her dragon and coming into her own. I was not disappointed! Rast is a bit rougher around the edges than I expected for Amy but I absolutely loved them together. His strength makes Amy stronger and her compassion makes him more understanding and empathetic. Rast still isn't perfect or always thinking kind and noble things and he wrestles with his past but Amy soothes him. It's a lovely partnership in the end. I loved this one and I'm excited to see what happens next with the other forts and the Salorians. Oh and what's really going on at Fort Shreveport? Gwen and Andrea have secrets and I really want to know what they are!
Finally!!
I've been anticipating Zane and Maggie's story for awhile now. Though I confess I had to skip ahead to and read Hot Mess to find out how Ashley Player was doing before I could continue with the rest of the Dirty series after Dylan's book. I was really thrilled to get the lead in for Ashley's story at the end of this book to see how all the pieces fit together. Anyway, back to Maggie and Zane. These two have crazy chemistry and I so enjoyed watching their relationship morph into a real marriage. They both have things to overcome to make things work and by the end it's a joy to see them so happy!
Cute Fall Romp
This was fun and well written! I think Candy is a lucky girl! I loved the backdrop of Sleepy Hollow at Halloween in this story. Soren, Tristan, and Lucas are very dreamy. I was missing a little depth overall with the guys. Lucas had the most emotional depth of the three. Tristan and Soren were enjoyable but I didn't feel very connected to them by the end of the book. This was a cute autumn romance!
Sweet and Steamy
It's my first book from this series and I really enjoyed Holden and Daisy. I appreciated that Daisy has some demons to battle. I really expected Daisy's brother to be more of an obstacle. There's never really a confrontation with Holden, which I thought was odd. I loved seeing Daisy and Holden open up to each other.
Super excited about this series
I really needed something better for Ashley after Dylan and Amber's book and this definitely delivered! After Elle and Dylan breaking Ash's heart, I was so happy that Danica is such a sweetheart. I love the twin mistaken identity trope and how different Danica and Daniella are. I'm hoping for some fun with Matty that can turn into a true ménage relationship. May not happen but a girl can dream.
Yay! Seth really won me over!
I really enjoyed Seth and Elle's story! At first their connection felt like it came out of nowhere because the last time we saw Elle she was with Ash and as far as we knew she wasn't especially into Seth. It was definitely an evolving relationship and I loved that. I was really glad to get more backstory and see the way the lives of all these characters are so interwoven. I'm a little sad for Ash but really excited to see what he and Dylan will get up to in the next book.
Loved it!
I loved getting to see what's been going on with Maggie and Zane. As much as I love Katie and Jesse, Zane and Maggie were my main dish in this. Some unexpected things happening with Roni and Elle's stories that I really enjoyed! My only complaint is that I really wanted more time with Dylan...I know his book is coming up soon. I'm just impatient. (Sigh.) On to the next one!
An angsty but enjoyable read
I enjoyed finally getting into Jessa and Brody's backstory. Their difficulties with communication can make this a frustrating read at times. However, I was happy with where things ended up and it was still great to spend time with these characters though! I loved the bits at Jesse and Katie's wedding so I'm excited to get more of those details in the next book.
Love this book to pieces!
I think I loved everything about this! Katie is a girl I'd be best friends with and Jesse (...pausing to appreciate Jesse...) is everything I want in a Rockstar Book Boyfriend. They have incredible chemistry from the beginning. I mean, that whole video shoot is like watching fireworks. I loved the ride this book took me on so much that I'm debating right now whether I want to read this again or find out what's going on with Jessa and Brody. I rarely re-read so this is a big deal.
I. Cannot. Stop. Reading. These. Books.
These books have been the perfect escape for my anxiety-ridden mind right now. I'm eagerly awaiting more from the God & Anchor series, which hits me in all my happy reading places, but I know the next book is a ways out. So I've been happily spending my free time with Golden Dragons in a post-apocalyptic world. Emma and Zohr were great! I loved Emma's independence and how Zohr views her as an equal partner that he wants to protect at any cost. The world is slowly being revealed and we're learning a bit more about where these Dragons come from. I don't need all the answers I'm just happily along for the ride. It's always great to see Claudia & Kael and Sasha & Dahk. I just wished they all worked together more. I'm super excited that Amy's story is next! I don't what to think about that damn Salorian (!!!) but I really must read the next book now. Kthxbye!
I'm really enjoying this series!
I waffled between 4 and 5 stars, but I so enjoy my time with these characters that it has to be a 5-star rating for me. I just love the relationship progression between Sasha and Dahk. She was so abused and she becomes Dahk's whole world. I'm super excited about Emma's story and desperate for Amy to have a dragon of her own. It was great to see the beginnings of a dragon warrior alliance too! On to the next one!
Yep, this was great!
Kael is a dragon dreamboat and Claudia finally has someone to take care of her the way she's always taken care of others. I'm excited to explore more of this dystopian world and see more of these amazing golden dragons find mates. I'm hoping the dragon females will get a chance to find love too. Loving pretty much everything Ruby Dixon writes at this point!
Yikes, I really wanted to like this more. I really enjoyed Lick. I love a sexy rock star romance romp! This though, I nearly bailed after the first several chapters. Mal in Lick was charming but this Mal was difficult for me to like initially. It wasn't all bad. He eventually grew on me as I began to understand where the mania was coming from. There were funny moments and steamy moments. I still didn't quite connect to him though.
I hoped to see more of Anne's tomboy playfulness return by being with Mal but it feels like she became more of a babysitter for him. At one point, Anne thinks Mal feels like more of a man than ”boy toy” Reece and I hate that I disagree. Mal and Reece both were immature and Anne continued to be used despite her ”boundaries”. In the end, I thought Mal was fine and Anne seemed happy and secure enough to deal with her family issues.
I haven't given up on the series. I'd still like to see what happens with Jimmy and Ben. I kinda want to see Lizzy and Ben together.
Loving this series!!
I've spent the last week getting to know Aos and its pantheon and I can't get enough! I loved Max and Rhagos together and am surprised how much heart and, ahem, HEAT Death has. I was worried about whether I could enjoy Rhagos as the Aspect he is in this book. Yes, it's frustrating but I feel like that's the point. His actions and thoughtfulness still shine through and make you want to keep him around. I love that Faith and Yulenna are still a part of this story! I'm so looking forward to what's in store for Kassam!
Holy Fantasy Romance Batman!
I loved this! No, I don't think you understand. I freaking LOVED this book. I love Fantasy and I love Romance but I have very rarely enjoyed a Fantasy Romance like this. Gah! My heart! If you need an escape full of adventure with an arrogant but swoon-worthy Battle God of Storms (and trust me, you do), pick this one up!
These have become reliably steamy books to escape into. Ironically, a big element of these books is the whole falling in love with your step brother trope which isn't one of my favorite things about this series. Happily, this one doesn't have that step sibling element. I thought this one was deeper thematically and had conflict I was genuinely concerned about. I felt like Dom and Hannah had room to breathe as characters, which kept me more engaged.
