Cover: Requested it right after I saw it on netgalley. Looked it up on Goodreads and saw a Uk cover I think. First loved that version but the Us started to grow on me and its now the better of the two [us cover]
Book: This is about Will, above 700 year old vampire but he looks like a 16 year old teenager. He hates the word vampire prefers the term Living Dead. He sleeps decades at a at a time reminds. He finds it to be a disease. And hate the being who did this to him. I could have finished it, had 100 pages left but forgot about it while reading a other book and it expired. I often read two books at a time. Downloaded it again, started but could not get past page 50. Don???t know why. It???s not that will is not likeable, gentle men like at times and not shimmering [I know a hint to twilight again] But did not feel attached to him or the girl he meets when he awakes in the 21 century after having 30 ish or more years of rest. I did like the atmosphere and anecdotes of him in the past centuries. The front used made it very journal like. In a couple of centuries he liked a girl but a happy ending in all of them. Don???t know if the 21th century girl falls in love with him, did not finished it. There were signs of maybe a romance. The enemy was a ENEMY. Those scenes were intense and you felt the atmosphere in the book. This is book 1 of the Trilogy and don't really know if i'll read book 2.A couple of people liked it on goodreads. Egmont USA has been extremely gracious in allowing me to read a copy of this novel, via Netgalley, prior to its release on September 27, 2011.
my thoughts
cover: The cover does not really tell me something about this book. Its just nice to look at. The pink-reddish in contrast to the black silhouette. The uk cover is a bit plain and boring for my taste . Just a girl on the cover . she whore that dress in a scene
book: I first saw this on my on one of my favorite blogs as a review book. I looked it up on goodreads and added it to my tbr/wishlist shelf. When i got the galley grab email, i was so exited seeing it downloaded it along with pledge and legacy ,will be reading those soon.
Carmen Bianchi our leading lady has got it all , fame and fortune and she's only 17 but has social and family issues. I felt for her ,like i wanted to be there as a friend. Her stress and all.
Jeremy King is the romantic intrest. He was not the ‘‘BAD BOY” but not the perfect goody two shoes boyfriend. A normal British young teenage dude ,except being a music prodigy. I think a couple of galls and some guys wil swoon over his british accent and appearence in their mind, will say this he played rugby imagine those muscles ,droolish.
There was no insta-love I admire that. I like love triangles, but sometimes its overkill and so overdone. This does not have that, triangles i mean. Miss Martinez did not focus much on the romance but more on the coming of age of Carmen and facing her fears. I wanted to know a little bit more bouth Jeremy's life and such
Other than Jeremy and Carmen, my favorite character was Clark, her step dad. A true father and a fanatic White socks fan. OK a tad fanatic.
Had no trouble with Jessica's writing and the pasing of virtuosity. Some 50 or so pages were a bit slow but the remaining 100 pages were exiting. The ending was thoroughly good but it was bittersweet.
Was exited for this book cause i always wanted to play the violin but a music instructor said that a drum or a instrument of that sort would be for me. Something with differentiating music tones and have small hands for a male , not femine but small hands. When i encountered a classical piece in this book, i looked it up on youtube. Virtuosity gave me a look in the world of musicians and the classical type. Jessica is one, a musician and plays the violin beautifully. Recordings of here are on here site. JessicaMartinez.com . If you click on it you will here her recordings immediately under tab “Extras”.
NOTE; listened to her recordings while reading Virtuosity to get me in the mood to read her book and i enjoyed it even more.
my thoughts
cover: it is a pretty cover, not much at first but when you get immersed in the story. You like it better at least for me. love the green and the sunlight. I think its a scene from the book.
book: received this from miss Wylie for review. this is Jen's young adult debut novel. Her writing was enjoyable and very emotional. when i read the first pages. WHAMM!! That scene was intense. i was hooked. this story takes place on a middle age -ish alternated planet or earth. the places and countries had a celtic feel to it especially glendor.
Shara short for Sharandar Lynn of Shoredirch(home country) is a 16 year old healer, healers are gifted with magic that they use to help others. but here's still dormant. It???s sacred, and she comes from a land that is far different from Glendor, where she???s been summoned to during a war. she meets a wounded soldier who can't speak. There is not mushy love but believe able romance with a lot of action. She gradually falls in love with him
other books have a love triangle with team A and team B. The 3 dudes feel for her, Shara. i equally felt the love between David , the wounded soldier. Shara and Tirel, her long distance relationship and Dric older cousin of David who Shara only sees as a close friend.
i adored the backstory of the main characters , their family ,friends and countries. there was no info overload.loved all of the relations family ,friends , more than lovers. it was in diverse pov. i think at least 5 povs. was not annoying for me.
i love that Jen did not sugarcoat the more mature themes. there's a lot of violence ,war. this is a upper YA book maybe 16, 17 i think.
if you get it hope you'll enjoy it. i did.
favorite quote[s] :
“So long as the sun and stars shine above and light your way, the stones and earth beneath give you strength, the waters of lake and sea give life; remember your pledge to each other. “By the life which courses within your blood and the love which resides within your hearts, take each other by your hands, your hearts, and your spirits, to be your chosen one. Live and love without sin or shame, for naught can exist in the purity of your love for each other.
what tell what's about . what do you think , mwa ha ha.
My toughts:
Cover: THis is one of my beloved covers. A pillow , a purple one on a bedsheet and the background. LOVE'd the cover the first time i saw it on goodreads, this year in februari i think. sad did not lived to my expectations.
Book: This book was not for me. Before i begin i'm not bashing the author i can imagine her blood sweet and maybe tears writing the dream catcher series , this is book 1 out of 3. Great name for a series. Now that's out in the open here i begin . Ready, set go
When i got it i was so excited. Love this cover. Though please don't suck. It. The writing was different. So far i know this is my first book that i've read with a 3th person present tense. I think that ruined it for me. I felt like a bystander watching them and not as a friend. In other words did not feel emotionally connected to the secondary or even main characters
What i loved was the chapter in Cable Strumheller's pov . the main leading male chapter. This was not in the book it was more like the addendum or something like that. I felt more connected to Janie and cable in that chapter than trough the whole book. If cable were ‘‘speakin ‘' so to say i think it would be as least a 4. My opinion.
Plus the the excerpt let me in to thinkin maybe book 2 will be better.
Loved his dreams , how ever they there ##spoilerish maybe## twisted and janie helped him when she got a hold of her ability and helped people in their dreams###
What i disliked. OK janie is a girl who not voluntary was sucked into people's dreams. She hates it actually since she was 8. Did not feel connected to her. There was no romance and if there was i didn't feel it. Did not hated her but did not like her either.
secondary characters ; Mom , she is a drinking !@#$ or to say a alcoholic. That's where Janie gets her taste for alcohol. Ok Janie is on the lower classes in society when a bit sorry for her. Dylan's mom makes her mom angelic. Here is her mention .
I can't even remember the names of her friends(how little she had) or people in her school or where she had a job. In a elderly home.
Plot was very slow but the last 70 pages where enjoyable. said a goodfrend used her money to buy it for me.It was a gift . Should have asked for something else. A lot of people loved it a coupple of my goodreads frends did. Will read book 2 and 3 but only if i win it. Was not my cup of tea. lov tea. lol
My thoughts
Cover:A fun cover. One of my favorite.Good thing it's a Gem hides underneath.A coca-cola type bottle filed with blood and slurped up with a straw. The pun with the title is genius.Bravo to the designers.
Book:DSL[drink, slay, love] was in my first ever Simon & Schuster Galley grab and the first time i saw it. So glad i downloaded and read it. A true gem[for me at least]
Late at night! Some vamps in hip modern clothes[what? teens are hip nowadays] are on the prowl. Pearl Sage Rose,a teen vamp among them. The others call it a nigh when dawn draws nearer.Pearl says she will be home soon and lingers further,She scenes something.Something strange appears ; A < majestic radiant beast. Is she hallucinating? No she's not it's real and charging towards her. Stabs her in the heart. Nothing is noticeable at first but she is changing inside slowly but surely she develops a conscious and her skin does not turn into ash in sunlight

My thoughts
Cover: Its not the best cover out there. But it caught my attention when I saw it on netgalley.
Update: I liked it more and more while reading ??????Seers??????. I think the pinkish comes from being with Patrick .
Book: The prologue was one of my favorite parts of this book. You get background information on the leading male, Patrick. The front that was used in the prologue was like a letter of sort. I really liked it.
The writing style was enjoyable and there are two pov but Kate narrates mostly. And I loved the front of the chapters which are the same as the title.
Kate Bennet ,the female protagonist , a 18 year old teen(yay a older protagonist) and sees aura???s (get it ??????Seers??????,lol) after a disastrous car in summer. On the first day of school she meets Patrick O???Donnell, a 18 year old Irish exchange student (swoon, have a thing on the Irish accent on women) who is in fact a 200 something year old guardian, you could say angelic but not exactly. They can???t go to heaven if after they choose to become one. I see what you???re thinking ??????She falls for the mysterious new hot dude at first glance??????. No she does not.
She dislikes him because he has a silver aura, something must be terribly weird with him.( Normal people have a lot of colors together pink, blue, green etcetera. Demons have black ones) at first but falls for him almost midway through the book and Patrick over the 200 page mark. But almost to the end they both know that both likes each other. Kate learns what a seer is, what she is.
Their love is not gagging, loved the description of the first kiss I knew it was around the corner but did not know when, was so happy it happened. I???m a sappy romantic I know, lol.
Loved all the characters.
???Toni , a guardian a bit immature, ok that???s a understatement. But he is so funny. Loved his dialogues with Kate, Patrick, and Lee, Kate???s best friend
???Lee , what a wonderful amazing best friend. She knows Kate better than Kate knows herself
???Grandpa and grandma ,what wonderful old folk. What you would see on a hallmark card. Said enough.lol
The plot had a mafia ???ish feel to it. The demons where mafia ish. Patrick had more than two chapters I think, hope that in book two there are a lot more.
The epilogue gave me information what to expect from book two. Looking forward to it. Some plot points gave me a ??????Huh?????? reaction, besides that its a good book.
I gave this book a 4.5/5 stars
This song reminds me of the first chapters of Seers

does not a review acksually , its a classic ,there are tons of reviews out there
here are my toughs
liked oliver, felt sorry 4 him that he had such a horrible lifehis mom died you know couple minutes after his birth , glad the last chapter if i'm correct was her story , who she was and ended when she died glad thsi story had a happy ending. There was no romance that i'm sir ten of.
i liked hating the badguys,LOL.
the only thing that lowered the rating ,where the many difficult words. I had a dictionary close by when i read it. Was annoying lol.
So there are my thoughts
My thoughts:
Cover: I absolutely like this cover.WATS NOT THE LIKE A BOUTH IT? A couple of YA Fiction covers are hideous , or the cover is the best thing about that book, meaning it sucked. Not this one the cover added to the book, you could see Dylan ,that the way I imagined him. The cover draws you in because it is a picture of a guy with piercing violet blue eyes staring into your soul. When I first saw the cover I was happy that it was on netgalley and I requested it. I got approved. So here I go
Book:
Ok it took a longer time reading it than expected. Normally it takes two ???four days to read a book. Been busy with school stuff.
the very beginning really interested me in reading the whole book. When he is dumped by his deadbeat mom, at his grandparents after an absence of 17 years, the story really begins. This is after the prologue . At the ranch or farm things start to happen !! He sees his ??? ghost ??????,Kera who appeared in dreams his whole life. Some less vivid than others. And he discovers she is from a other dimension, Taeg. A place still in the middle ages, looks like earth but different
I got to say the creapy creatures are cool, really cool. I encountered more than three species in the book . The poisonous Milispit(slimy half lizard creatures with broken looking wings) and the vindictive Pux( small fairy beings that have razor like parts of their body)
I liked Dylan from the very start, he is brave, he caring, just all round nice guy with a troubled past, the person he knew the longest in his life dumped him, his mom. Later on you find out why she is like she is. But I had no caring feelings for her, more mad and pissed
Kera , I did not like her that very much in the beginning. Boy I was wrong love her now, she has spunk, she comes up for what she believes in, helpful. They meet in the 2/3 of the story . Her chapters are in 3th person narrative , and Dylan???s chapters were in 1st person. I had to adjust at first that the reason I did not like Kera at first. I was happy their romance was not insta-love. Actually they met before and became friends in their dreams, a bit creepy but cool. And it was not vomiting like I did when I read the romance development, ps hate twilight I puked mentally
The secondary characters really added to the story, grandma and pa, Jason and Theo who became friends of Dylan . The dialog between them was very funny
I never thought I could get emotionally attached. I yelled, that can???t happened to them.
My favorite quote on the last page 286, received a netgalley arc
I sigh and my dream fades, replaced by the light of love shining from kera's eyes. my dream girl is real I don't have to be alone anymore
That 3 sentences made me longing for book 2. And a coupple questions were answered at the end and a coupple questions came into excistence in the end.
i enjoyed this audiobook. i downloaded from http://audiobooksync.com/ it was free in there summer giveway. wat lured me to this book was: first of all it was Free.it is written by joseph delaney and narrated by christopher evan welch. the story is a bout a boy names thomas J. Wurk i think, don't know if i heard it correct.
from goodreads;'‘Young Tom, the seventh son of a seventh son, starts work as an apprentice for the village spook, whose job is to protect ordinary folk from “ghouls, boggarts, and all manner of wicked beasties.”
this tale takes place in england
his dad owns a farm and looked for jobs for his 7 sons. when tom came to a age to hav a job all of his favors were used up lookin for jobs for the other 5 sons. the oldest got the farm. so he asked the spook apprentice-ship for tom. That's were the tale begins. he meets alice , a young witch and granddaughter of mother mulkin(was a audiobook so i don't know if i spelled it right lol). And the dangers occur from that moment on.spoiler, mother mulkin is the witch who took revenge, Thomas slayed her in the end some parts were a bit spooky and scary
1 of the most like able parts is where Tom knew this is wat i'm supposed to be, a spook
the narration was really good, my first audiobooks so i can't compare it I hung on Christopher's evry word, and for my pov the lines spoken in brittish english sounded real. I really hopin next book is just as good. its a series the first book
this is long overdue lol
My toughts:
Bookcover:. Wats wrong with this cover? Nothing . This cover looks intense. (The dude is bran btw.) Huge wings, lol.
Book:
The prologue was really good , The synopsis intrigued me like a great synopsis should . We get to meet lil falcon and bran immediately. (I had the tendency to read little falcon instead of lil falcon trough the first chapters but later I got used to her name.)
Lil accepted who she was and did not hide her gypsy heritage, that was cool. I loved that she was a good friend to her friends. Most of all Not a WHINY lass.
Sykes and Remy , two of the side characters who acted immature , and funny and are witty. And enjoying like brothers towards lil, but loved her as a sis.what do you expect from teenage brothers there annoying lol. The other side characters were really enjoyable and needed to create a wonderful tale. Grandpa, Izyy, Kim and others
The romance is brief in all the action . It not gagging for a boy . Lets me honest Boys don???t read as as girls . With romance all most non existent . Lil and bran felt like real people , real teens. And have to say Bran is the perfect gentlemen , although grandpa was a bit hesitant , I can imagine he only has her left , you will find out why if u read it
Found a song that fits with a beloved scene of this book, for those who read it its the mountain scene at night ,the first date.
It???s from lady antebellum , just a kiss
The fighting scenes were Amazing , was on the edge of my seat , the tempo was good not to quickly but did not drag at all. Sadly did not find a good song for those scenes
The bad guys were bad/evil but I felt like there was some good somewhere. You will find out a lot of family history and a lot of question will be stirred upp.
Got book for two as a gift from Ednah Walters, will read it soon and review it
Gave this book a 5 Stars out of 5
this was posted at roro is reading.blogspot.com
Its really good and loved this book. I'm glad maggie stiefvater recomended it
loved R how he was the narrator and male protagonist. the story is from a zombie's pov and loved it because never read a story over zombies not as monsters but as social and what happining in there being, beings
Marion???s characters are far from perfect. Their imperfections give them a realness This is one zombie story that won???t give you nightmares. It leaves you instead thinking about that thing called life, there zombies not living and cheering for a monster.
His journey begins with no memory only a hunger for the flesh of survivors and the rare feelings that come as he feeds on the energy, emotion and memory trapped inside that what zombies long for the human brain. But a particular meal, this meal, the mind of a once-idealist, now cynical young man named Perry, awakens something within R. He makes the first moral choice of his undeath and saves Perry???s girlfriend Julie.
one of my fav scenes is where R is in the camp or place were the human's live , R put make up on to fool the guards and they believed he was alive and his clan were acting like they were chasing him, R drank liquor with Julie, and needs to go to the toilet because he 's gotta pee, he is thinking was happening, this has not happened before
i gave it 4 stars because i dont really like the time delemma
1 of the books of the series, i read it in the order lewis wrote it
takes place right after the exciting finish of voyauge of the dawntreader(book 3 in that order)
the cousin of edmund, susan , peter and there sister has a main role in this book and a clasmate
the first scene takes place at the schoolground. he talks about Narnia , she does not believe it and something happens and the cousin is not there anymore. And ASlan the mighty lion appears 2 the girl
and sets them on a Quest. In this book evrything is the time diffrence is at it again ita almost a 100 years later. they meet a new evil or a old evil , that ‘s 4v you all 2 decide
the folowing book in this series in that order is the boy and his horse
note: read all the seven books in 3 days , a weekend
Don't you hate it when you finally read a book that was on your tbr for close to 10 years and you don't like it . It was a take on selkies. The writing flew over my head . It's well written. That makes it hurt more
