I thought I would try out a mystery since it has been years since I have read one. I listened to this on audible during my commute, and I definitely looked forward to listening to it each morning and evening, but as a whole the plot was predictable. The author somewhat intentionally does this. A retrospective from the missing character is given in the beginning that immediately identifies the person who is responsible for her missing. The rest of the book is unraveling the why and the how, but these are pretty obvious and predictable with a few minor surprises.
If you are looking for a good thriller/mystery I recommend looking elsewhere.
I really enjoyed it!
I bought Yellowface back in 2023 after hearing R.F. Kuang talk about it on the radio.
I somewhat went in blind because I forgot what it was about and the first couple chapters shocked me and really pulled me in.
