Dodie Smith is a superstar of writing quotable sentences & paragraphs if I Capture the Castle is any proof. It actually more than makes up for Cassandra's annoying naivety through most of the book and a real uncool move by a character I won't name here.
Plus, uh, the bear incident. Hilarious. Trust me, I'm not giving anything away with that.
Great potential ruined by the main character being basically invincible; ruining any sort of drama.
Compassionate and pragmatic thoughts on how we can achieve universal ethics based on love without needing a religious reason. Would be 5 stars, but I felt the last couple chapters belonged in a different or companion book.
A good, quick read. Could be more fleshed-out, but is clearly aimed at kids. Perfect if you loved American Gods.
