See allI am not too much of a fiction/mystery reader. This book was good.
It was an interesting (though I think somewhat pessimistic) view of life in pre-apocalyptical world. I found myself reflexively drawing parallels with covid-19 in some respects. It does feel like the author must lean right politically speaking, as the attitude of the main character towards some activities seems fairly conservative. But I guess he is a cop. Good read, if not just for the lore. The mystery is more the cherry on top.
The best sci fi book I've read since Enders Game. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Plus - to my knowledge - the author isn't anything like Orson Scott Card!
This book made me think in ways I wouldn't usually think. It's a nerdy-noir-crime-drama-murder-mystery-sci-fi-fantasy-history-fiction-non-fiction-good-book.
