I've always been fascinated by twins/triplets/multiples, so I came by this book by searching goodreads for “triplet books” or something like that. I clicked Sweet Venom, found out it was about triplets and greek mythology plus it was written by an author I've read and enjoyed before and I was like “Bingo!”.
So yeah, I got the ebook version, read it, loved it and now I can't wait to get the sequel and spend more time with Grace, Gretchen and Greer.
Btw, fave triplet: Grace (she's so much like me)
Loved this! The writing was so alive and descriptive that I felt like I was actually there. I could see everything so clearly in my mind, I could smell the food at the feast, I could almost hear the characters. The whole story felt really, just, alive.
Okay, yeah, there's kind of a little insta-romance here, but I didn't mind it??? I've read much worse instalove than this! And Shahrzad was a brilliant main character and it felt very justified when you read her thoughts about it all. I'd love to hang out with her for one day. I think that'd be awesome.
(PS: am I the only one who kept imagining Shahrzad as a black-haired Daenerys Targaryen? I just couldn't get rid of that image!)
(PPS: the narrator of the audible audiobook did an AMAZING job, you have to listen to it)
At first I have to admit that I found this book quite boring. The story just seemed to be very idle and slow while the world was built. But when it took off, it REALLY took off. It was like slow... slow... BOOM. It felt like a mix of The Hunger Games and Game of Thrones, but set on Mars. It was really cool.
So if you want violence? This book has it. Death? Yep, right here. Friendship? That too. A brand new world? Look no further.
Raven's story totally broke my heart while I was reading... It's so sad! But I love her determination and bravery, even when she's being treated like an animal. This novella was so good and it was great seeing everything from Raven's perspective. I especially loved the scene after the auction, before being shipped off to the House of the Stone! My only problem with this story was that it was too short! I want more of Raven!
