man wtf was that (positive?). wanted more freaky plant monster dream world sex. a little on the nose at times tho and i dont think the art style really served the narrative

okay i think this book is good at being what it???s supposed to be, which is a kind of parody of romantasy & bodice rippers!! a lot of issues i???d normally take with a book (certain cliches, the comically naive fmc, the ridiculousness of some of the sex scenes) kind of get a pass because it???s clearly genre aware and poking fun at the conventions. that said i do wish we got more of gwen???s feelings about her family sorted out on page, the ending felt a bit rushed and some of the dirty talk was just. comically bad. also i fear the male audiobook narrator???s voice did not suit oskar at all. overall certainly not a masterpiece but i had a fun time.

chewing glass thrashing around etc etc. i cried i wept i read this in like two four-hour sittings.
