The story seemed to take forever to get going. I liked the concept of the chef being able to bring back a ghost for someone with a favorite food or food memory. Those parts were really enjoyable and I loved all the food descriptions. Once that was established the storyline wavered a little and the ending was a bit strange, but overall I enjoyed the book.

This is the 4th book in the series and I think they just keep getting better. A great historical mystery with a bit of time travel leaving the main character, a modern police detective, stranded back in time in the body of a victorian woman. The adjustments she has to make to victorian sleuthing with her new group of friends and collegues are interesting. I've enjoyed all the books in the series and hope there will be more.

This story sucked me right in and I read it in one day. I really enjoyed the details about hiking the Appalachian Trail, the friendships formed and the heart it takes to make it thru. The characters were great - the missing hiker, the friend she'd been hiking with, the leader of the search and rescue team and the armchair detective. All different viewpoints who added greatly to the story.

Enjoyable historical mystery. I don't feel like I missed anything by not reading any of the other books in the series. I will have to go back and read them when I get the chance. I also hope to see more books in the series.

Easy to read mystery. I thought I had figured out who the murderer was, but didn't. When I have time, I'll try to go back and read the 1st books in the series. I didn't feel like I missed anything by not having read them though.

So my favorite character in this book and the one I would love to see more of is Essie. She wasn't the lead, but was so much more interesting than FBI agent Lana. The book really picked up about halfway thru with a few twists thrown in. I would read more from this author.

I enjoyed this mystery with a touch of magic. The circus setting with some behind the scenes details and all the characters made it interesting. I also now want a large black panther following me around. I'll be looking forward to the next book in the series.

DI Stone is dedicated to her job despite her family and her child, although the child almost seems like a throw away. The scenes involving her husband and child were short, and it always seems like she didn't think of the child at all. I mean you come home from work and immediately have some wine vs putting your child to bed and reading them a story? As a mother, wouldn't you set reminders for your child's events and when given an opportunity to attend, take them? I guess the child needed to be there to wrap up the storyline, but it almost seemed like she was a throwaway character.
The rest of the story was interesting and ended with decent wrap ups.

I'll start by saying I've read other books by Ms Lippman that I enjoyed a lot more. I wanted to like Mrs Blossom more, but was totally annoyed by the endless musings that I was skipping pages just to get thru them. I kept waiting for her to be taken advantage of, esp when she's supposed to be smart, but taking gummies from random strangers. I enoyed the descriptions and scenes of France much more than the interaction of the characters. Over all, this was just an ok read. Quick and easy, if you sped thru the dry spots.
Thanks Netgalley for the ARC.
Eerie Exhibits is a collection of 5 short stories all based in a museum. The 1st story was creepy enough that I put it down and read several other books before coming back to finish the others. The other 4 stories were not as creepy. It's not a bad read, just not enthralling.

first off, I got an arc from Netgalley saying this book was being published in March 2025. Then about halway thru the book, I realized that I'd already read it in 2020 and it had been originally published in 1990. Netgalley does mention that it's in the time in PRINT for the US, but I'd already read it as an ebook. The point to this is, you may have already read it as an ebook, so check your stuff before you go and buy it new.
The mystery was good, even the 2nd time around. I enjoyed the characters, altho Inspector Ramsay could have been fleshed out a little more. I do think her writing has improved since this was written. But, I enjoyed it in 2020 and I endjoyed it again. Mostly because I didn't really remember it. Just the vague hints of this sounds familiar. I must have enjoyed the rest of the series too, as I gave them all 4 stars, altho I must not have been able to get one from the library as I didn't read book 5.
