To begin with, I am not a big fan of slice of life or slow burn books, but Sally managed to make me hooked with the book. I personally like her writing style. She writes in a very descriptive manner, hence it feels straightforward.
For the story, I think it's average. Firstly, I pity the main character. Why does she have to suffer throughout the plot. Secondly, I can't be appreciative with the story because it feels too far from me, my life. In hindsight, I take it as a learning. One good thing is, Sally did a really good job in portraying the complexities of relationships.
This is my first book of Han Kang. I understand why she was chosen as the Nobel Prize this year. But, have to say her writing style is not my favorite. It was difficult to follow through, and a bit too poetic for me.
Picked up the book over the holidays, and finished it in a weekend. This book was incredibly good! The dark fantasy was well-executed. There was a constant suspense, and all pieces of plot are weaved harmoniously. Loved the ending. Wish there's a series of this story.
This book is a beginner to understand politics. Using animals as personas in the political world is genius and classics.
