It's not often I feel the need to weigh in with words on a book but this series, and this book in particular are just too good not to. I've been following Mark Del Franco since his first Connor Grey book in 2007 and since then it has only gotten better.

Now to start with this one, the city is in a pretty rough state when the book opens. After the turbulence in the last book, Unfallen Dead fae and human relations are at an all time low. And things don't seem to be looking up. The Murdock family dirty is brought out to air, Bergen Vize makes an appearance, Connor gets to know a bit more about his friendly tumor, and the action just builds. It seems like though this is the first time that Del Franco is trying to rebuild what's been broken, the first step in keep Boston from Imploding.

If you haven't picked up any novels in the series yet be sure to start at the beginning so you can get a good understanding, because while there is a good job of describing things in a way that can be repeated and informative there is only so much an author can do without spending half a book recapping.

I don't know what to say, this was probably my favorite and least favorite of the series. As usual the writing is great, but it has really been stepped up a notch for this. I'll try my best to avoid any spoilers but I really thought the series was over for awhile (I read the book in 4.5 hours on the day it was released). This book is one of the fastest paced of all of them and has so many plot twists I just couldn't put it down. I just have one thing to say when this is finished, harry needs to get Murphy or someone cool for him soon because I don't know how much more the man can bear without something good in his life.

This book has been amazing. Larry Correia keeps them coming and I can't get enough. I read through this very fast because I kept wanting to pick back up and not stop. The latest Monster Hunter International book was fast paced and added more to the story so far. We see the return of a lot of characters that we are all familiar with and get a glimpse at the big picture. Owen is struggling in this book with becoming who he needs to be. We meet some of the major players here now too, things that have been foreshadowed through the past three books finally starting to come around.

What I did see here was much less persepctiv changes, while the last book Monster Hunter Alpha had more than the first two this one had almost no change at all. 90% of the book is told from Owen's perspective this time. Sorry for those fans of the other characters but I have a feeling we'll see more from them in upcoming books as the four chosen ones have been hinted at. We already saw a book dedicated to Earl in this aspect and now one for Owen. Maybe the next one we will see is Julie's turn up to bat?

Anyway, to all fans of the series you will love this latest entry into the series, and to new readers, start with MonsterHunter International and work your way up. It is definately worth it and will keep you better informed.

This is by far one of the best series I have ever read. The return of Alex Verus was just as good as the first installment. Character relationships in this novel are strained and tested and Alex is firmly shown to be an independent, not will to blindly follow light or dark mages.

If you haven't picked up Fated you may be a little lost during some parts, but overall the book is an easy read without too much knowledge from the first book needed (though I highly recommend reading Fated first).
