See allDespite loving the first three, I couldn’t finish this book when it came out. I don’t entirely remember why (it was definitely at least partly how old everyone was), but I really really hated it. I won’t say it’s my favorite in the world now, but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Darrow’s storyline does still bother me, but I love the other three perspectives, and overall I enjoyed myself and will probably read the rest. Like the rest of the series, this isn’t anything fantastic or life changing but it’s a fun read. Glad I tried it again after 7 years.
I really enjoyed this book! The writing style really felt like a legend, which was fun and different from what I’m used to. The story itself was surprising and kept me thoroughly interested from start to finish. At its core, I think this book is about the dangers of absolute faith in any one thing, whether that’s a person or religion. It’s a really interesting theme and not one I’ve often read about to this extent.
