I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected! I wish it was longer but I loved the writing and was very invested in the characters.

Despite loving the first three, I couldn’t finish this book when it came out. I don’t entirely remember why (it was definitely at least partly how old everyone was), but I really really hated it. I won’t say it’s my favorite in the world now, but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Darrow’s storyline does still bother me, but I love the other three perspectives, and overall I enjoyed myself and will probably read the rest. Like the rest of the series, this isn’t anything fantastic or life changing but it’s a fun read. Glad I tried it again after 7 years.

five stars because it was just as good as the original books and made me cry

imma be so honest I’m gonna put this one down for a while. It’s fine but really not my favorite and has just been dragging for so long. I normally enjoy a slow book but I don’t even care about any of the characters so it’s just not working for me right now. I’ll update if I do finish.

I was worried I wouldn’t end up loving this when I started it but I absolutely did. It’s exciting and vaguely sickening throughout. I love Richard as the narrator because of the ways he sees the other characters.

I really enjoyed this book! The writing style really felt like a legend, which was fun and different from what I’m used to. The story itself was surprising and kept me thoroughly interested from start to finish. At its core, I think this book is about the dangers of absolute faith in any one thing, whether that’s a person or religion. It’s a really interesting theme and not one I’ve often read about to this extent.

Alice is an unlikable main character, but the ending of this book saved it for me.

Overall a fun read! I found the writing style to be a little clunky at times and almost none of the characters were particularly likable, but the plot was interesting and more surprising than I expected.

If I could, this would be more like a 4.8 stars but I didn’t feel it quite deserved a perfect 5. I loved all the stories, although one was definitely the standout throughout the whole thing. The character development from each major character is exactly what I wanted. Overall, there were so many great stories and moments (both funny and serious) that made me love this book. I just had a few minor issues with scope, pacing, etc. that made me feel that it wasn’t quite perfect.

genuinely life changing. That’s really all there is to say about it. Each of the character’s stories spoke so deeply to me that there were a lot of times I had to put it down and just digest it all. It felt like my own stories but in this back drop of a crazy amazing detailed fantasy world. Also definitely my favorite of this series so far.

Very good but didn’t have quite the same impact for me as the second one. The amount of flashbacks and battles was just a bit too much for me at times, but there were still great moments. Also some of the characters I loved I don’t feel were quite as interesting to me this time.

Really enjoyed it. Solid fantasy that had just the right amount of twists and turns and made me surprisingly emotional.
