I had difficulty putting this one down. Not a five because it kind of dragged in parts when Alice is going on and on with her self doubt in some parts. I skimmed and skipped through those parts.

Great story overall and I highly recommend to anyone into magic, history and a bit of horror.

R. Chernow did a wonderful service to us all by authoring this biography of Grant.

I gave it four stars because he droned on and on in parts with the improvable accusations of Grant’s drinking escapades and they added nothing to Grant’s epic history. It could have been mentioned in much less detail and only pushed me to skip those parts.

Otherwise, this is a fantastic biography that everyone should read. Not just because of U.S. Grant’s record, but because of the man he was overall.

I just couldn't bring myself to finish it. I do enjoy “Coming of Age” and a wide range of other styles of writing.
I just couldn't get into this one. I actually put it down once the insane jealousy just got too much. To each their own. This one was just not for me.

What I did read was alright. I just couldn’t get into it. Nothing against the story or author. I may try again in the future. I completed the first short story and never picked it back up.
