Trippy
Good collection of short stories. This one from the POV of a sentient ship (named Asha, way to go!!!) carrying humanity to a distant as of yet unfound planet. This one made me think back when teenage me used to ask the age old question of what becomes of us when our sun dies? I liked this are a LOT! The ending though oooohhh!
Oh God I finally finished this. The only saving grace of this book was the sprinkling of Jude and Cardan being murderous together every few chapters. I could not, for the love of God, come to care for Oak or Wren in this. And I liked the first book but thissss?!? It was soooo convoluted for 200 pages and then took off in the last part.
Please at this point just give me another Jude and Cardan book!
-1 stars
This was a fucking piece of shit. Only good thing was that I didn't have to read a sex on the chessboard scene.
No coherent thoughts, only curses for this book.
There was dubious consent and many vaguely insulting things. Learn to do fucking research (the chess moves for the Polgar vs Anand game were wrong even though it's available on a simple Google search), stop trying to appeal to the tiktok masses.
Stabbing this book like it's Julius Caesar.
3.5 ✨
Starting off by saying this book was very fast paced. I flew through it. Happy it didn't drag.
Now onto my main gripe - my aroace ass did not like the constant horny thoughts. The sex scenes were baaaaaad and I've read everything Ali Hazelwood has thrown at me. This was bad, bad.
I did like the storyline. Loved the sassy dragons. Loved the banter with the dragons. No one told me that was gonna be so much fun. Also liked how Violet had a chronic condition for a main character that did not get magically cured.
Fun cliffhanger ending!
PS. My friend and I nicknamed this as ‘the horny book.
P.P.S. THERE'S GOING TO BE 5 OF THESE??? (overkill)
Bought this completely on a whim - the cover was pretty and it was cheap for a hardcover. Best decision ever!
The story was sooo eerie. Effy was such a contradictory narrator that you couldn't tell if she was fulfilling the role of an unreliable narrator or not. I was questioning my sanity with her lol. 5 stars to Preston for not being an asshole and for being a softy.
The writing was amazing! The story inside the story was amazing. The little epigraph snippets from the in-book authors were amazing. I marked so many quotes I loved.
Going back to read the previous two works by the author.
