I really wished I liked this more than I did. It had so much potential and it was just squandered for me. Characters aren't really characters so much as they're interchangeable wooden signposts with information written on them. The author clearly has some not great opinions of women as well. Ultimately, a cool world, interesting ideas, and horrible execution. I won't be reading book 2.

Overall, pretty enjoyable, but not my favorite of Gaiman’s work. I just never really felt like I connected with or cared about the characters.
