It is Christmas time, but the Grinch has come to visit and he brought some thieves to help him wreck some havoc in Morelville.
It is the first family Christmas for the newly married Sheriff Mel Crane and Dana Rossi in their new home. Crane has hired a desperately needed new detective Janet Mason to help with the department's workload which has suddenly increased with house robberies. All of sudden Dana has more to worry about than buying Christmas presents as Janet has taken a liking to her new boss. There is also the unsolved murder of the daughter one of the town's richest men. Then dogs start disappearing and it does not seem to be high on the list until Dana's dog goes missing too.
Anne Hagan packs a lot of action in A Crane Christmas, the sixth book in “The Morelville Mysteries”. These mysteries take place over a couple of days and you get to see the characters flaws and strengths through these cases, especially Crane and Mason's. Hagan once again writes crimes which ring true and and shows you the tediousness of police work. Crane and Rossi's relationship is something that confuses me I will confess, but maybe you guys have experienced something similar so you will nod your head when you read this book. I just said, “Hmmmm” a lot (laugh). The sex is perfunctory for the book, if you have read any of the previous books in this series it is the same moves. I like Crane and Rossi is developing into a different character than she was in book one which would be expected as she is no longer a Customs Agent. The mysteries are solid. So off we go to book seven...see you there!
