This sweet romance had a rough first impression for me (the lead seemed four rather than eleven), but the story grew into something better from there. The word choices and circumstances occasionally popped out of Regency into a more modern era, but I tried hard to overlook that to reach the charm I was seeing potential for. Found it! I wish I had known ahead of time that this was a bit of a romantic comedy. I was not expecting so many pratfalls, and I feel I would have enjoyed the story more had I realized what I was getting into.
Overall, a charming romance that leaves room for growth.
Concern: “Drinking, revelry, and women” were excused as “peccadilloes,” or “small, relatively unimportant sins.” ALL sin is wrong, so I was disappointed in the presentation that some sins are okay to commit and won't lead to corrective discipline.
