Kate Lloyd is my go-to for Amish Fiction. This is a genre that is still new to me so I am thankful to have already found an author I love. She writes stories that are heartfelt, full of emotion and are quick and easy reads. A Lancaster Family Secret is no different.
The journey that Annette takes is one that would have had me a lot more out of sorts, but she carries herself with strength and grace and I absolutely adored her. I couldn't imagine finding out, in such an almost smacked in the face way, that I was adopted!
I especially loved the community and the way in which the family and relationships are shown. Such values are rare in today's world so this was refreshing.
I recently learned that sometimes an author will take a previous, shorter book of theirs, and turn it into a full length novel. When I started A Lancaster Family Secret, I had a sense of deja-vu. Back in October of 2020, I read The Unexpected Christmas Gift which was a 5⭐ read for me. I remember wishing it was longer too. Well I got my wish.
If you read or enjoyed that novella, I think you will love this one even more as the story and the characters are fleshed out and you really get a stronger sense of the entire story.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one, and would recommend if you're looking for a heartfelt and meaningful read. I sincerely appreciate the publisher for providing a review copy. All opinions are my own.
