As the only child of a single mom, Jenny Collins wanted nothing more than to be part of a large, rambunctious family like the O'Briens. Ironically, though, when her mother married into that family, Jenny found herself feeling more like an outsider than ever.
Now, after years in Nashville as an established songwriter, Jenny's drawn back to Chesapeake Shores to collaborate on a Christmas production…and to make peace with the past. I jumped on the bandwagon with Melissa and her newly organized Book Tours & Quilts. It started with a love of fiction from Debbie Macomber, and I decided to go along and read another well recommended author in Sherryl Woods as well. I was in the mood for a Christmas romance so I found myself very optimistic about this read. In the end I'm half and half. If you know me, you know that I mostly read Christian Fiction, and mostly Christian Historical Fiction, so there is about a handful of General Market authors that I absolutely adore. The story of A Seaside Christmas is good, and for someone who has not read the other Seaside stories it definitely does promote an interest to jump into reading others in the series. However it was just too much casual life for me to truly enjoy it. Too much marital discord, too much adultery, too much abandonment, too much premarital sex. Sure it's life in today's culture, but as a Christian it's not what I want to surround myself with or support. Overall it was pretty mild, in the way that the language was fine and no overly hot scenes to provide discomfort. There was just too much red in my mind of why they were so upset and sad and of course the answers weren't really given just sort of by passed. Truly I cannot decide if this is a positive or negative review. I like the book, I like the story, I just don't like the acceptance of a blatantly sinful life. But then I read everything from my inspirational perspective. No matter what, people can change and the characters all prove that and prove to be interesting and entertaining.

Jenny is coming back to Chesapeake Shore after a very public and difficult break up with country star Caleb. Even if her relationship with her family is complicated seeing over and over her boyfriend with another woman is too complicated. But after a rehab Caleb is coming to Chesapeake Shore reading to win her back over.
I dived in this book not knowing a thing except that it took place during Christmas. And I must say I was not ready to see the character that cheated come back. I hate cheating trope ! But I must give to Sherryl Woods that her book was really good. I liked the story that mingled family and love and show that it is normal to have struggles to acclimate to a new family. Even though the characters had nothing particular the story has this Christmas ambiance, the story was super cute and even if Caleb cheated it was impossible for me not to like him.
My only complaint is that for the end is not done well. The last chapter before the epilogue is done so quickly, even if I knew what was going to happen I would have liked something more worked on.
Overall, with the holidays coming, I totally recommend this book which is quite short.
