These are guardian statues, seen as representations of the watchful eyes of the gods. The desecration of them is troubling. Someone does not fear retribution from the heavens.
I reach for her hand and grasp it, offering her what comfort I can, even though the fear continues to slither and grow inside me, trying to take hold.
In the Hall of Reflection, I questioned the philosopher’s dilemma, but I must believe we are inherently good. Or else why should we continue the futile struggle if evil is inevitable?
