Jamie Tremagne has endured a very great deal over his short life. His life as a homeless runaway has been fraught with danger, following the death of his single parent heroin addicted mother from an overdose. He has been subjected to two brutal assaults both of which resulted in the death of the perpetrator at his hand. Several times Jamie believes that he has been rescued from serious life threatening injury by an Angel from St Joseph's Church, St Mary Magdalene. The story follows Jamie's path out from destitution and depravity to a place of opportunity and choice. Jamie's progress is interrupted by the violent death's of Nellie and Frank, his adoptive grandparents. Jamie's carefully planned acts of retribution against the four responsible threatens to destroy his hard won sanctuary as the police are quickly on his trail. In the midst of this, his relationship with Sam lurches off the rails leaving the cool and sophisticated criminal barrister adrift in a sea of conflicting emotions. One thing is for sure, once Jamie crosses the threshold of 27 Radley Square, life will never be quite the same again for any of its occupants.
