A humorous perspective on the funny things that happened to Betty MacDonald as she and her family struggled to get along during the Depression. Influenced by her resourceful and somewhat less than forthright sister, Mary Bard, Betty applies for jobs for which she has no qualifications. The result is that she meets an assortment of strange and funny people. Very enjoyable reading.
