It’s the end of the night. You’re walking home on your own.
Then you hear the sound every woman dreads. Footsteps. Behind you. Getting faster.
You’re sure it’s him – the man from the bar who wouldn’t leave you alone.
You make a snap decision. You turn. You push. Your pursuer tumbles down the steps. He lies motionless, face-down on the floor.
Now what?
Call 999
Wait for the police to arrive. For judgement, for justice, whatever that may be. You just hope your husband, family and friends, everyone you love, will stand by you.
OR:
Run
Stay silent. You didn’t mean to do it. You were scared, you panicked. And no one saw. No one will ever know. If you leave now. If you keep quiet. For ever.
Which will it be?

After loving Wrong Place Wrong Time from this author, I was surprised to find this on my Kindle already and hadn't previously connected them being from the same author.
I was excited to get into this and was instantly drawn into the alternating chapters, one where Joanna conceals the incident and one where she reveals it to the police, with each storyline showing how the decision impacts her life totally, regardless of choice.
I definitely think the alternating chapters worked really well for this type of story, I know some people won't like them, but I think they helped keep the suspense going.
My issue with this was Joanna herself as a character, she's meant to be quirky and likeable but I found her annoying. Her inner monologue became repetitive and she made terrible decisions at times, so it was hard to connect with her.
I'll definitely be looking for more from this author soon.
