The Reed family's faith was sorely tested as blow after blow hit. Mr. Reed, loving husband and father, passed away after a brief illness. Then the bank holding the family's savings went under. A crooked lawyer turned up saying that the family home had been mortgaged and demanded payment in full.
Their only refuge was a small rundown house in a bad part of town that the family happened to own outright. To it they went, bringing along shrubs, plantings and bulbs that would bloom a lovely golden yellow in the spring, Mrs. Reed's April gold.
The family adjusted to life in the sordid neighborhood and had opportunity to bring a bright witness to the people there. You will enjoy reading about how the impact of the Reeds' faith reached farther than they knew.
