I read this book on rental when I couldn't find anything else that caught my eye. At that time, I've already known that David Eddings has a lot of books under his name so I thought I'd give it a try.
I couldn't relate much to the story given that it's apparently a prequel and I'm not familiar with the setting or its history. So overall, the plot didn't impress overly much. But I did find the characters to be very deep and very real. Belgarath and his two diametrically oppposite daughters came to life and at that time, I really loved the characters, especially Polgara.
