The happy camaraderie of the Porthcove Studios holiday hotel is shattered by the arrival of the misanthropic George Bullard. He goes out of his way to annoy both staff and fellow artist guests. So when Bullard is found brutally murdered, everyone in the hotel comes under suspicion as having a motive to kill him. Then there is a second murder. The police are baffled, and it falls to the unorthodox lady detective Miss Isabel Eaton to unmask the killer.
