Fans of Sin City, and its artistic style, will love this introductory graphic novel.
Told in stark, black and white, and enhanced only by blood red, it provides a series of introductory tales about a number of hitmen.
It's gritty without being gruesome, and because of it's sparsity of graphic overload, actually makes for a visual treat, encouraging you to look at the illustrations and linger on the text.
I won't spoil it, as the entire thing is a set-up for what I cannot wait to come! — but each pays off beautifully in only the few pages provided to them, giving a short enough backstory that you want to see what they do next, and how they interact with the main premise of the story.
The final hitman reveal is perfectly handled and makes absolute sense, providing the springboard for what I hope and expect to be a number of following entries in the series.
The story, coming in at 58 pages, is longer than the standard comics that are on offer each month, so represents great value for money.
If you're wanting something to read that is gritty, visual, entertaining and intriguing, then grab a hold of this!
