Christchurch Sketchbook

A short book with wonderful sketches of prominent Christchurch buildings of the time. Almost all of these buildings were heritage listed (and therefore protected) prior to the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. Luckily I found a list of the buildings contained in the book - otherwise I wouldn't have had the energy to type them all out. I have noted the current status - off the top of my head and with a little google assistance, so don't take them as gospel.
Excellent little book - sketches 5 stars, text 3 stars, overall 4 stars.

The Deans Cottage - still in use
Riccarton House - some damage in EQ, repaired and still in use
The Cathedral - badly damaged in the EQ, awaiting rebuilding. Source of many arguments.
The Clock Tower - (Victoria Clock Tower) - was damaged in EQ, but repaired and back in use
Old Boys High School - part of The Arts Centre - the whole former university campus was badly damaged but is under repair and parts are gradually opening.
The Post Office - badly damaged in the EQ, awaiting rebuilding
Old Municipal Chambers - badly damaged in the EQ, awaiting rebuilding
The Public Library - re purposed over the years, but badly damaged in the EQ and demolished
14 Oxford Terrace - still in use albeit modified and without chimneys, as the Pegasus Arms Tavern
St Michael's' Campanile - largely undamaged, still there
Lancaster Park - significant rebuilding over the years, but badly damaged and demolished after EQ
Roman Catholic Cathedral (Basilica) - badly damaged in the EQ, awaiting rebuilding
Mr Wiggins's School - long gone I think
The Canterbury Museum - still in use
The Christchurch Club - badly damaged and demolished after EQ
A Wakefield Home - badly damaged and demolished after EQ
The Provincial Chamber - badly damaged in the EQ, awaiting repair
Bridge of Remembrance - damaged in EQ, but repaired and re-opened
Christ's College - Hare Memorial library - repaired after EQ, still in use
College House - heavily altered over the years, but still in use.
The Sod Hut - badly damaged in the EQ, awaiting repair
Girl's High School - badly damaged and demolished after EQ
Cave Rock, Sumner - ok this is actually a big rock. Damaged in the EQ
McDougall Art Gallery - still under repair after EQ, will be reinstated
The “Press” Building - badly damaged and demolished after EQ
New Regent Street - repaired, and still in use
United Service Hotel - long gone
Ward' s Brewery - demolished after EQ
Antigua Boatshed - repaired, and still in use
