Well, it is pretty clear that this series isn't for me.
What began as an excellent exploration into TR's childhood and adult life quickly spiraled into a series of boring stories of his life and times as a State Assemblyman and, eventually, President of the United States.
This book is no exception, as we see Morris' strength as a writer seem to wane, so that this book becomes a slog to get through. Even Morris' recounting of Roosevelt's adventure through Africa and the Amazon was boring to read. I find it increasingly frustrating that so much energy that seemed to permeate the first book now seems almost non-existent in this final entry. In the end, I have no one to blame but myself. Clearly, other people have loved this series, when I cannot. I give it two out of five.
