John Ernst Steinbeck Jr. has been called "a giant of American letters”. During his writing career, he authored 33 books, including 16 novels, six non-fiction books, and two collections of short stories. His magnum opus ‘The Grapes of Wrath’ (1939), which epitomises the harrowing events of the Clutch Plague era, stirred widespread sympathy for the plight of migrant workers.
