“Cryptids Island” by Max Brallier is my favorite book in the Poptropica series. Much like the game, the reclusive billionaire, Harold Mews, is offering $1,000,000 to anyone who can prove the existence of cryptids. The story opens with the protagonist, Annie Perkins, hearing of the contest over the radio. Determined to save her family's restaurant with the prize money and to the disapproval of her parents regarding the idea, Annie heads off to Mews's estate in a hot-air balloon. Annie is a gem to read about. She is determined in the face of adversity, and I love her adventurous spirit. The side characters also make the book interesting, especially Gretchen Grimlock, who keeps Annie on her toes. Overall, this was a fun read, and I would recommend this book to fans of the game.
