When I found out that one of my favorite authors is coming out with a brand new book, I was excited. I was hoping that finally, in this dreary situation of a pandemic, the book will at least give me something to be occupied with.
Maybe it's just me, but the first few pages were... a bit of a letdown, to be honest. Yes, I was intrigued with the introduction of the female lead, Tess Hartsong, but that was it. The problem with contemporary romance is, it could be repetitive. And having read almost every; if not all, books written by SEP, I can already predict the plot. Yeah, I liked some of the characters well enough, but it wasn't enough.
Tess could be tiresome, even aggravating at some point. Even the male lead, Ian North, could not make me love this book.
Overall, it was just an average OK.
I find SEP's themes problematic but I like the banter. I will continue reading her books and continue being irritated by them. C'est la vie.
